The Improbables, the Volleyball Club that came about by chance.

The Improbables ​​originated from a rediscovered love for volleyball. The founder, who had been passionate about the sport since she was 10 (but whose insecurity prevented her from playing it regularly), celebrated her 40th birthday by playing beach volleyball with friends and family, rekindling this dormant passion.

After moving to the Netherlands in April 2023, Marjane rented a court and invited Brazilian mothers from a neighborhood WhatsApp group to play. Seven women showed up and started meeting every Saturday. Over time, their husbands joined and the group grew, as did the frequency of the meetings. Six months later, the team was registered with Nevobo in a mixed recreational competition in the south of Amstelveen, and the club continued to expand.

Renato, the husband of Lara (one of the original players), became the coach in charge of the coaching staff, bringing enthusiasm and knowledge. Together with the volunteer organizing committee (the original Improbables), the club was officially formed in the summer of 2024, with four teams.

Cris, one of the original members and currently responsible for digital marketing, suggested the name "The Improbables" because of the unexpected plays and the relaxed atmosphere of the meetings, where the group laughed, talked and overcame old traumas.

Composed mostly of Brazilian players, the club maintains a strong sense of community. Members meet weekly, strengthening friendships and offering mutual support. The core values ​​are community, inclusion and fun.

The goal of the club is to help people believe in themselves and become the athletes they always wanted to be, regardless of age or skill level. There is always a team for everyone.
